Resume Writing Tips

June 8th, 2018

Our writers (aka Recruiters) are hard at work for you on arguably the most important topic. Brought to you in a quick and honest conversation, avoid these pitfalls.

Stay tuned for more, here’s a sneak peek at some tips coming your way!

Objective is going out of style! Unless you have a strong message you are wasting valuable resume space in the most powerful location of your resume. Get right to your skills and experience.

Skills Summary– HOT BED for strong keywords and content. Don’t forget about this! It’s the MECA of buzzwords easy to a Recruiter’s eyes.

Grammar, Punctuation and Formatting– Does it really matter? We’ve seen it all at TPI Staffing… care to put attention and detail to your resume. Misspelling? Yikes!

Education– Avoid graduation dates, it may not play to your benefit. Give detail for School, Degree Type and Location.

Job Titles Matter– A Recruiter needs to understand what you did at quick glance… Contractor or Self Employed titles won’t cut it.

Most OVERUSED Terms-Are you Guilty? The odds are your resume says “Team Player” “Time Management” or “Customer Service”… really what it says is “Generic” and quite frankly kinda blase’. What are YOUR skills or strengths? Get creative.

Top 5 Staffing Agency Myths

June 8th, 2018

5 Staffing Agency Myths Tackled by TPI Staffing

Myth #1: “Staffing Agencies only find or hire for Temporary positions.”

Fact: Not all staffing agencies provide ONLY temporary positions. According to the American Staffing Association, 9 out of 10 staffing employees said staffing work made them more employable.

Myth #2: “Staffing Agencies will take a “cut” out of my pay.”

Fact: Employers/Clients compensate the staffing agency for their service of finding the top candidates who can fulfill the company’s current needs. From the moment you submit your application to clocking in on your first day, you won’t owe TPI Staffing a dime.

Myth #3: “Staffing Agencies do not care about their candidates.”

Fact: If you do not feel supported, you are working with the wrong staffing company. TPI Staffing is committed to helping you find the job that is both enjoyable and matches your skill set. We care so much that the ASA reported more than 3 MILLION temps and contract employees work for America’s staffing companies during and average week!

Myth #4: “Staffing Agencies are supposed to do ALL the work for me once I apply.”

Fact: Staffing agencies are a great place to start when looking for employment, but don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. Candidates still need to provide resumes and other forms of information needed by a staffing company. Although you may land a job with a staffing agency, increase your chances by submitting your resume to more than one open opportunity.

Myth #5: “Staffing Agencies only provide low paying job opportunities.”

Fact: Pay ranges vary more than ever now. Staffing agencies have the ability to partner with HUGE companies that are seeking qualified candidates in a variety of industries at different skill and pay levels.
