June is National Safety Month—a great opportunity to promote a culture of safety in the workplace. Here are some key tips and resources you can share around departments at Your Company to keep your employees safe and beat the summer heat:

General

  • PPE isn’t optional—gear up before stepping in.
  • Keep the aisles clear; trip-free is injury-free.
  • Drink at least 1 cup of cool water every 20 minutes, even if you aren’t thirsty.
  • Don’t skip breaks — rest in the shade or a cool location.

Welders

  • Helmet down, sleeves on—dress like you mean it.
  • Ventilate like a pro—don’t breathe the fumes.

Forklift

  • Pre-checks aren’t just paperwork, they save lives.
  • Buckle up—yes, even on a forklift.
  • Horn = helpful. Corners = caution.

Beat The Heat This Summer

As employers, it’s crucial to roll out a safety prevention initiative to remind employees to be mindful of heat illness and water breaks. We recommend displaying heat illness prevention posters and water break reminders in your facility and break rooms, available in Spanish here.

Per OSHA, employers are responsible for providing workplaces free of known safety hazards. This includes protecting workers from extreme heat. An employer with workers exposed to high temperatures should establish a complete heat illness prevention program.
